Homemade Laundry Soap… Just My Version. Bonus: Felt Dryer Balls

Standard

1 – 4 oz bar of soap, Zote, Fels Naptha, or homemade soap. Don’t use a soap with moisturizer.

[I used a bar of vegan soap that I bought from a speciality store]

1 cup Borax

1 cup Washing Soda

[I actually found the soda and borax right to each other at my local grocery store]

1660364_503746106471012_5773894766778774660_n

I used an old mandolin slicer to shred up the soap. You can cut, chop, slice, whatever.

I put in that container with 2 cups hot water, stirred it up, covered it and let it sit for 2 days. [soap needs to be totally melted, no lumps]

Then I mixed it up with a mixer. You can use a blender, food processor, but this was easiest and least messy.

In Another container I mixed 1 cup Borax and 1 cup washing soda and 2 cups boiling water.

Mix it up, then pour into soap mixture and blend/mix/process.

Should be syrupy consistency. Will harden up a bit when it sits.

Then I put in airtight container and set it and a tablespoon in the laundry room.

Instructed hubby on how to use. For HE front load washers, and ALL washers, put a tablespoon full directly in with clothes.

Wash! for whites, I add a bit of oxy clean mixed with water in the soap dispenser. But most times I don’t.

BONUS DIY

Felted Dryer Balls

Pretty much all I did was find some 100% wool sweaters and wool yarn at the thrift store and cut up the sweaters into thick strips.

1918616_503746086471014_4907394349487533211_n

Rolled them up and took the yarn and wrapped the strip up until all covered and round shaped.

10390906_504073016438321_8931193407609201031_n

Put them into a nylon, tied them off and washed and dried them with a load of towels twice.

Took the nylon off and dried them a few more times. and VIOLA!

these ones that look funky are the ones I just took a sweater sleeve and rolled it up… they came apart and now are a toy for my dog.

Faith Crisis: questions. Why did God have to make all the Adam and Eve bullshit… I mean, within the context of the bible it seems to all make sense but in life, it does not. Why did God give us the bible? Or is it just man made religion? Is all this just man made religion? and if it is, then what or who do we believe? what does God really want from us?

I think I let my worship of man get in the way of my faith. So disappointed in frail humans. including myself.

And heaven and hell. I would almost rather believe we are just gone after we die. done. finished. Finito.

Missions Trip: going on a missions trip over the mountains to the Native Yakama Nation reservation. It will be my 5th year and I am super excited to see everyone and do a little bit of good, love on some kids, fix some houses, fellowship. Oh and its supposed to be over 100 degrees. NOT looking forward to that. AT. ALL.

Calvinist snob: I have become what I dislike about others. A Calvinistic snob. Oh, I am trying to rectify it, trust me, but when I made a comment about some church spewing arminian crap… I kinda realized. I’m fixing it.

Missions Trip: hard but good. love being back with all the Sacred Road peeps. Love love love being back with the Sacred Road team and meeting all the church teams that came out this year.

Musings on…. Life in my 40’s

Standard

People say their 20’s was a life changing experiences, but this momma will have to say that my 40’s have been the craziest and life changing…to say the least.

I was into all kinds of debauchery in my 20’s. psst…everyone does it, sowing the wild oats, drinking, drugging, partying… blah, blah, blah. But my 40’s….man….crazy.

As I head into my 50’s decade, I’m gonna try to look back on this past decade and see what the hell I have done. I wish I had a big calendar that I wrote all the stuff I did so I could look back.

But maybe its good there isn’t any paper trail. turned 40 in 2004.

Joined Facebook in 2008. Started blog in 2007. Became a vegetarian/vegan in 2008. Lost 30 lbs doing body for Life in 2007. Weight has yo-yo’ed ever since.

Only had 2 tattoos, now I have upwards of 15 which includes a half-sleeve.

We only had one dog and 3 cats, now we have 3 dogs and a pig. gone through lots of animals, lost my heart to each and every one of them. I had two things I wanted to accomplish before I died. Knitting and ride a motorcycle. Did both in my 40’s. Own a pretty little Rebel right now and more yarn than I know what to do with.

Had a son late in life, at 28. Got married late in life, 32. Son has gone thru so much and so have we. My 40’s have been full of heartache for/with this kid.

I homeschooled my child for a year. Never EVER thought I could do it, but do it we did.

At 44 I was left to become something other than a stay-at-home mom. So I started a critter care business. kristinascrittercare.com It’s been amazing to say the least. So many wonderful animals and human clients.

Haha, never been high in my life, so i thought i would try that. It’s legal where I live. I hate to smoke and never have, so i ate it. Trippy. different from drinking, but the same. Just want my thoughts to stop and relax, altho the pot does let me relax, my brain still goes and I have the weirdest dreams.

Started this blog in my 40’s. It’s been one, if not the best way to do therapy.

Put my big girl panties on and went to IOWA to meet strangers, all by myself, in my 40’s. Best thing I ever did. I love Doug and Micaela so much.

Went on my first mission trip in my 40’s. To the Yakama Indian Reservation. Made many new friends that I will treasure forever. Had many craft fails, I get a little OCD and try many different crafts, much to the chagrin of my hubbys pocketbook.

Did a trial test thingy for the drug Abilify for about a year. It was pretty interesting and I still don’t know if I was taking the Abilify or a placebo.

I had dreads for about 3 years, off and on, always got to a point where I couldn’t wash them every day and they wouldn’t dry fast enough. I also got my first case of lice!!

Had nose surgery this past year. It was the most horrifying thing to not be able to breathe for two weeks. I have had all my woman parts yanked out and a ruptured disc fixed.

Thinking of going to school for vet tech, so I can transition into a desk job someday when I am unable to walk. lol.

And many many other things I cannot recall right now.

Hopefully my 50’s will be a bit more mellow and I can rest in the Lord more and more, knowing He holds my life in His hands.

”Not if You are Actively Cleansing!”

Standard

WARNING! This post has way too much info about Yours Truly. Proceed with caution:

10-Day

ACAI BERRY

EASY-CLEANSE

FAST & POWERFUL, yet GENTLE

10-Day Acai Berry Easy-Cleanse gently flushes away the waste clogging your digestive system literally pounds of excess matter that could be making you feel sluggish, bloated and backed-up.*

Costco reviews

Ok, so Day one, not a problem to be seen, I timed taking this so the first few days i wouldn’t be working. Silly me.

Second day,  everything is coming out well, twice a day.

Third day, I tell my hubby, ‘pieces of my colon are coming out’ ‘they are stuck to the bowl’ [this is why couples should keep that little ‘air’ of mystery about them, will make for a better marriage]

I ask my friend, Tonya, if she wants to walk a client with me. She states “not if you are actively cleansing!”

What does that even mean? To me it means.. in the loo. reading a book… window open.

Which I obviously can’t walk a dog and read a book. So we go. It’s cool. I leave pieces of my colon at her work for her to find.

Day 4, I’m starting to think I’m losing vital elements of my body. Seriously. I tell my hubby again that I am losing pieces of my colon as we walk the dogs around the block.

He is practically yelling at me “it’s just pieces of poop that have been stuck in your intestines” GROSS

Gross, gross, gross. I’m thinking, I wonder if there is still meat up there. Its been 3-4 years since I ate meat, but could there be? [November 2007. if anyone cares]

He used the other bottle and said he did fine on it. He did ask if I had any stomach aches yet and i told him no, just my stomach gurgling.

Day 5, I ate watermelon last night. I thought I was bleeding this morning. Watermelon, not pretty. almost gave it up…almost.  gurgling my way thru the day, i managed to eliminate whenever, where ever possible.

Evening rolls around, eat a sweet dinner and go for a walk with hubby. Turning the last corner to our house. You guessed it. I thought only old people did that.

Embarrassing. [probably another air of mystery you should keep from your partner, its fair game in love and war]

Day 6, in the morning i take the 2 pills and expect the powerful YET gentle cycle of cleansing elimination to run its course. Oh did it.

On aside, did LITERALLY pounds of colon, intestines, excrement and watermelon escape me during these 5 days?

Yes, yes it did.

As i lay in bed this afternoon with my tummy aching and trying to sip water but it punches me from the inside out every sip. ”Stop putting crap in here, dude. ITS FULL.”

So now I have to take 2 Pepto’s to curb the effect of the powerful active cleansing.

i think I’m done. I have nothing left to give.

If you made it this far you get to see the other pieces of pottery i made:

the bowels, i mean, bowls, i made specifically for this lamp stand.
