Dishwasher Detergent Pods DIY

Standard

This is the original website I looked at:

http://www.diynatural.com/homemade-dishwasher-detergent-soap/

Here are the ingredients I used:

Borax, washing soda, lemon juice, salt, unsweetened lemonade drink.

Because I ran out of the lemonade mix, and because I needed liquid to make the pods, I used lemon juice.

1 cup borax

1 cup washing soda

1/2 cup salt [should be kosher salt]

1/2 cup unsweetened lemonade mix [or citrus acid]

BUT

I used 1/4 cup lemonade mix and 1/4 cup lemon juice.

Mixed it all up. It will fizz a little, stir it up and let it sit till it calms down.

Press into ice cube trays. Should use a tablespoon full for each load.

Let dry for a bit. I set them on the window sill and when I went to press them down more, they were already dry.

Websites are saying let them dry for up to 2 days. Mine was about 2-4 hours.

I’m storing mine in a tupperware container.

I also never used my rinse thingy and it was pretty gross. So I cleaned that out and used vinegar as a rinsing agent. Dishes look clean and dried with no spots. We air dry our dishes.

Thanks for looking, The Home Engineer
