Movies I Watched This Weekend

Standard

Mind you, these are not christian movies and probably movies I should not watch, with the ‘keeping your eyes on jesus’ thing: but review them, I will:

Skeleton, Inc: a TV series that didn’t make it, I can’t find anymore episodes. If you like bones, skulls, the skinning of a lion, then this one is for you! Actually really interesting, love this kind of stuff.

I should probably save this one for last, but I only intended on watching one episode, and it got me hooked, not so much for the ‘sex’ as for the actually players of the series. The people interested me and makes one wonder how they started to live this sort of life. Pretty much rated X, don’t watch it with kids around.

The Rite of Exorcism: Myth, Mystery & Hope: this one was more about the catholic faith and its do’s and don’t’s than about exorcism. It might be part of a series, seemed incomplete and unnecessary.

An Affair of the Heart, Rick Springfield Documentary. Crazy fun. I read his book and he seemed like a jerk, he even admits to being a jerk in his younger years, but as he matured he became ‘others’ focused and grew close to a lot of fans. There are interviews with fans that follow him city to city, fans who got through some tough stuff by listening to his music, a bit about his past. I loved him as a teen. This was a great flick.

Triage: Dr. James Orbinski’s Humanitarian Dilemma: this was a sad, awful, wonderful, inspiring film. The Dr. is writing a book about his ‘adventures’ in humanitarian efforts in Africa, he goes back to visit the places and people. It’s heart wrenching. It’s really good.

The Wild and Wonderful Whites: while there is nothing wonderful about this family, it is like watching a train wreck. A reality show movie starring a backwoods living semi-famous hated-by-the-town family in West Virginia. If you like that kind of reality show, watch this.

Happy People: A Year in the Taiga: this one my friend told me to watch…… i could only watch half of it. She saw the industriousness of a people isolated in Siberia. I saw the same old story of an indigenous people, addicted to alcohol, reduced to menual labor, outcast, filled with hopelessness and their family lines dying out. The white people were able to live in this rough landscape…while I did not see anything about the women in this film, I am told I would have, if I had watched all of it.

There ya go, take it or leave it. I was dog sitting all weekend and crashed out on the couch, killing brain cells watching flicks.

  1. “The Whites” is awesome. Just like the peeps around here live. “Kink” was recommended to me yesterday, so now I guess I’ll have to watch it.
