Musings on Proverbs 30: Part 2

Standard

Two things I ask of you;
deny them not to me before I die:
Remove far from me falsehood and lying;
give me neither poverty nor riches;
feed me with the food that is needful for me,
lest I be full and deny you
and say, “Who is the Lord?”
or lest I be poor and steal
and profane the name of my God.

10 Do not slander a servant to his master,
lest he curse you, and you be held guilty.

11 There are those who curse their fathers
and do not bless their mothers.
12 There are those who are clean in their own eyes
but are not washed of their filth.
13 There are those—how lofty are their eyes,
how high their eyelids lift!
14 There are those whose teeth are swords,
whose fangs are knives,
to devour the poor from off the earth,
the needy from among mankind.

There are 2 things he asks of God:

1. Remove him far from falsehood and lying

2. Give him neither poverty or riches. actually there are 3

3. feed me with just the food that he needs.

Why?

Lest he be full and deny the Lord or be poor and steal and profane the name of his God.

We don’t ask this of God much, do we?

Who are the ‘those’ who curse their parents and clean their outsides but are filthy and proud and vicious.

Ah, we have all been there one time or another in our lives, eh?

Pray these verses…..7-9.More to come… Blessings
