Musings on… 1 John 1:8-10

8If we claim to be without sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us.

9If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.

10If we claim we have not sinned, we make him out to be a liar and his word has no place in our lives.

Does this denote what our end of the bargain is?

He gives us faith, He gives us His Holy Spirit, but what of our end?

What do we do?

Do we just keep the commandments?

He knows we can’t keep the commandments, that’s why Jesus died for us.

What are we to do for God?

  1. Hey girl! I guess I’m not following this. So I’ll just say this…it’s not by works that we’re saved. So we don’t have to “do” anything. That may not be what you were eluding to though.

I don’t know that we have to “do” anything for God. He certainly doesn’t need us to. But beings our love for Him and indebtedness to Christ we are compelled to extend His love. To share His love and word to others. At least that’s what i hope I am doing. I know I am trying…
~~this is an old post that was sitting in drafts, i think my thoughts were about confessing our sins and how we (generally speaking) don’t really want to confess our sins, we like our sins (the little ones at least) but how its so important to do just that, confess them and be free of them

  2. My opinion: Love and Enjoy Him.

I’m not sure how that works out in everyone else’s life, but I have a clear picture of how that works in my own life. Somewhere in loving God we learn to love one another, which is the impetus behind all the commandments toward one another.

  3. Go out into all nations baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit teaching them my commandments – that none should perish. Do good works. Take care of the widows and orphans. Love your God with all your heart, soul, mind and strength and others as yourself.

By the way, thank you so much…I received the book and I enjoyed it.
