Get Off Your Butt!

Standard

If there was no bible, how would we know God and His son, Jesus?

(folklore, tales told from elders, somehow it would have gotten written down somewhere eventually, right?)

If we didn’t go to church, what would we do?

(Meaning, if we didn’t have our bottoms sitting on the pew on Sunday, what would should we do?)

We would just veg out, we should take off the pretty ‘church’ clothes and get into some work clothes and get out into the community. We should start relationships, show and talk about our faith.

Most of us have sat in a church pew long enough to know enough to get out into the world and do this

And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Amen. (Matthew 28:18-20)

I could go on and on about how we need to be [commanded to be] out in the world more and be the shining light, set apart and showing love to a needy people.

But, really, would you listen?

Deut. 4: 1 Hear now, O Israel, the decrees and laws I am about to teach you. Follow them so that you may live and may go in and take possession of the land that the LORD, the God of your fathers, is giving you. 2 Do not add to what I command you and do not subtract from it, but keep the commands of the LORD your God that I give you.

  (Pertaining to obedience)

Deut12:  32 See that you do all I command you; do not add to it or take away from it.

 [Pertaining to the place and way of worship to God]

Proverbs30: 5“Every word of God is flawless;
he is shield to those who take refuge in him.

    6 Do not add to his words,

or he will rebuke you and prove you a liar.
{pertaining to wisdom of God}

Revelation 22:18I warn everyone who hears the words of the prophecy of this book: If anyone adds anything to them, God will add to him the plagues described in this book. 19And if anyone takes words away from this book of prophecy, God will take away from him his share in the tree of life and in the holy city, which are described in this book.

[Pertaining to the book of Revelation specifically]

I was just jotting down those notes as I was looking thru the International Bible Society catalog.

I am really bummed out that the international mail rates went up so high, I can’t afford to send bibles overseas.

I’m hoping God has another plan for me. It makes me crazy seeing bibles sitting around not being read, when there are so many people in other countries wanting God’s Word.

Just ramblings of a Home Engineer’s mind. Maybe I should get a job.

Blessings, Kristina

26Now an angel of the Lord said to Philip, “Go south to the road—the desert road—that goes down from Jerusalem to Gaza.” 27So he started out, and on his way he met an Ethiopian[d]eunuch, an important official in charge of all the treasury of Candace, queen of the Ethiopians. This man had gone to Jerusalem to worship, 28and on his way home was sitting in his chariot reading the book of Isaiah the prophet. 29The Spirit told Philip, “Go to that chariot and stay near it.”

    30Then Philip ran up to the chariot and heard the man reading Isaiah the prophet. “Do you understand what you are reading?” Philip asked.

    31“How can I,” he said, “unless someone explains it to me?” So he invited Philip to come up and sit with him.

    32The eunuch was reading this passage of Scripture:
“He was led like a sheep to the slaughter,

and as a lamb before the shearer is silent,

so he did not open his mouth.

33In his humiliation he was deprived of justice.

Who can speak of his descendants?

For his life was taken from the earth.”
    34The eunuch asked Philip, “Tell me, please, who is the prophet talking about, himself or someone else?” 35Then Philip began with that very passage of scripture and told him the good news about Jesus.    36As they traveled along the road, they came to some water and the eunuch said, “Look, here is water. Why shouldn’t I be baptized?”

38And he gave orders to stop the chariot. Then both Philip and the eunuch went down into the water and Philip baptized him. 39When they came up out of the water, the Spirit of the Lord suddenly took Philip away, and the eunuch did not see him again, but went on his way rejoicing. 40Philip, however, appeared at Azotus and traveled about, preaching the gospel in all the towns until he reached Caesarea.
