Someone has asked you to trust them some time in your life, what does trust mean?

And can you trust anyone?

 

Does trust have to be this complicated?

Look at the—Synonyms 1. certainty, belief, faith. Trust, assurance, confidence imply a feeling of security. Trust implies instinctive unquestioning belief in and reliance upon something: to have trust in one’s parents. Confidence implies conscious trust because of good reasons, definite evidence, or past experience: to have confidence in the outcome of events. Assurance implies absolute confidence and certainty: to feel an assurance of victory. 8. commitment, commission. 17. credit. 19. entrust.

Who or what are we to trust in?

According to the Word….

In the Lord, Let him trust in the name of the LORD and rely on his God.

  1. I John talks about “we know and rely on the love God has for us.” I tend to think in my own experience and observation trust only becomes more than a mental exercise when we come to the place where our fortunes are truly tied up in God’s love for us.

    Otherwise…it’s easy to say we can rely on God. It’s harder to actually rely on God without a plan B “just in case He doesn’t come through…”
