    ** I have hope now, after all those years of ‘feeling’ despair, hopelessness, discouragement and the sense of I had no where else to go but to die. (yes, I did want to die, many times)  there was no other option for me then. There was no other option for my family, they were better off without me.
BUT now:

2 Corinthians 4:8-11 –
8 we are afflicted in every way, but not crushed; perplexed, but not despairing;
9 persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed;
10 always carrying about in the body the dying of Jesus, so that the life of Jesus also may be manifested in our body.
11 For we who live are constantly being delivered over to death for Jesus’ sake, so that the life of Jesus also may be manifested in our mortal flesh.
Ecclesiastes 2:17-26 –
17 So I hated life, for the work which had been done under the sun was grievous to me; because everything is futility and striving after wind.

18 Thus I hated all the fruit of my labor for which I had labored under the sun, for I must leave it to the man who will come after me.

19 And who knows whether he will be a wise man or a fool ? Yet he will have control over all the fruit of my labor for which I have labored by acting wisely under the sun. This too is vanity.

20 Therefore I completely * despaired of all the fruit of my labor for which I had labored under the sun.

21 When there is a man who has labored with wisdom, knowledge and skill, then he gives his legacy to one who has not labored with them. This too is vanity and a great evil.

22 For what does a man get in all his labor and in his striving with which he labors under the sun ?

 23 Because all his days his task is painful and grievous; even at night his mind does not rest. This too is vanity.

24 There is nothing better for a man than to eat and drink and tell himself that his labor is good. This also I have seen that it is from the hand of God.

25 For who can eat and who can have enjoyment without Him?

26 For to a person who is good in His sight He has given wisdom and knowledge and joy, while to the sinner He has given the task of gathering and collecting so that he may give to one who is good in God’s sight. This too is vanity and striving after wind.

Ps 42:5 –
Why are you in despair, O my soul? And {why} have you become disturbed within me? Hope in God, for I shall again praise Him {For} the help of His presence.
Ps 42:6 –
O my God, my soul is in despair within me; Therefore I remember You from the land of the Jordan And the peaks of Hermon, from Mount Mizar.
Ps 42:11 –
Why are you in despair, O my soul? And why have you become disturbed within me? Hope in God, for I shall yet praise Him, The help of my countenance and my God.
Ps 43:5 –
Why are you in despair, O my soul? And why are you disturbed within me? Hope in God, for I shall again praise Him, The help of my countenance and my God.

 What do I have hope in, you ask?

  1. Hi Kristina. I have hope FOR you, as well. In 2Cor 4:16-18, we are told that our troubles are “light and momentary” and they are achieving for us an eternal glory. So we need to find hope (in verses such as you quoted), and hang on through the darkness ’till daylight comes. In 1Peter 4:12-13 “Beloved, do not think it strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened; but rejoice to the entent that you partake of Christ’s sufferings, that when His glory is revealed, you may also be glad with exceeding joy.” (NKJV) So, maybe we should expect suffering as Christ suffered? I will continue to pray for you!
