I Love the Fact We Have All We Need in Him

We just looked at these verses Tuesday at Bible Study and I saw this:

Ephesians 6

1Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right.

2“Honor your father and mother”—which is the first commandment with a promise—

3“that it may go well with you and that you may enjoy long life on the earth.”

4Fathers, do not exasperate your children; instead, bring them up in the training and instruction of the Lord.

5Slaves, obey your earthly masters with respect and fear, and with sincerity of heart, just as you would obey Christ.

6Obey them not only to win their favor when their eye is on you, but like slaves of Christ, doing the will of God from your heart.

7Serve wholeheartedly, as if you were serving the Lord, not men,

8because you know that the Lord will reward everyone for whatever good he does, whether he is slave or free.

9And masters, treat your slaves in the same way. Do not threaten them, since you know that he who is both their Master and yours is in heaven, and there is no favoritism with him.

When I did a marriage bible study 2 summers ago (boy was that a crazy study) We kept going around and around about how we should treat our hubbys/wives.

The phrase, ‘but what if’ kept coming up…

But what if my hubby is mean to me

But what if my wife doesn’t cook me dinner

But what if the hubby is an unbeliever

But what if she nags me and makes clean the house

      But what if she/he doesn’t respect/love me, why should I love/respect them?

(Picture whining voices while you read this)

But this states, do these things for For the Lord, As unto the Lord, Obey Christ. We love and respect our wives/hubbys/children Because God wants us to, not because they deserve it!  Because GOD DESERVES it! Because we ‘owe’ it to God, because He is worthy  for us to obey Him.

There are promises from God in these verses.

It was so hard to convince these couples we should treat others well because God treats us well. If the only reason I treat my hubby well is because I am so grateful God has saved me and given me a Godly hubby then I’m to do that!

And be satisfied doing it.

I wish I would have seen this scripture, in this light, when I was leading that class.

Then there is this: preface, we were going over the tempter study I previously mentioned today and spiritual warfare came up:

The Armor of God

10Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power.

11Put on the full armor of God so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes.

12For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.

If the class/leader/study was right, the tempter can control un-believers or they can be in the dominion of Satan, { see other Satan’s tactics on other post } then believers can struggle

(wrestling (a contest between two in which each endeavours to throw the other, and which is decided when the victor is able to hold his opponent down with his hand upon his neck) the term is transferred to the Christian’s struggle with the power of evil )

with those folks, yet here it says our struggle is not with flesh and blood, as to say its not with the [person that’s causing us grief, it’s the SATAN behind it that we struggle with, the tempter] I don’t know if I’m being clear, if not, help me out

13Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand.

Put on means to to sink into (clothing), put on, clothe one’s self

14Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place,

15and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace.

16In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one.  17Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. 18And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the saints.

Look at all this; our full armor of God is Truth, righteousness, readiness of gospel of peace, faith, salvation, word of God and prayer!

Where do we get all this armor stuff from?

God, His Word, His Son, not from the artillery store, not from the gun factory, not from the earthly way of struggling with someone.

I love the fact we have all we need in Him.

19Pray also for me, that whenever I open my mouth, words may be given me so that I will fearlessly make known the mystery of the gospel,

20for which I am an ambassador in chains. Pray that I may declare it fearlessly, as I should. (Please pray this for me as well)

If I have missed something or am not reading this right, please advise me.

Thanks for reading, Krislinatin
