Love the Lord Your God with all Your Heart

Standard

I know this is a played-out muse, because every one talks about having a ‘personal’ relationship with Jesus but is it really lived out in peoples lives?  I was laying in bed listening to the local Christian radio station to find out if there was no school today. again. And one of the announcers said something about Loving God.

Do I love God/Jesus? and how do I love Them?

So here I describe a few ways I love my close ones, then compare it to the love I should have for My Savior, My God.

My kid and hubby are my examples:

 touch, hug, kiss, hold them

talk to them, tell them I love them

protect them against all adversaries, protect them when they are hurt, by a person or injury

respect them, honor their decisions

feed them/keep them clean and warmly dressed

proud of them/brag about them

put their lives before mine (wants/needs/desires)

encourage them to be all that they can be in Christ

I know the list could go on and on, but here is the thing;

Insert God’s name in where you would put your loved one’s name.

Do I love God, do i (i’m really tired of capitalizing ‘i’s, sorry) talk to Him, tell Him i love Him?

Do i protect Him against people who want to injury Him?

Do i respect Him and His decisions, especially the decisions He makes for my life?

Do i keep Him close to me in word and deed?

Again I could go on and on, but it’s something to think about, do we fiercely love our Lord, God and Savior as much as our close ones here on earth?

Is the love we should have for God and His Son different than the love for our close ones?

God has given us infinitely, eternally, so much more than anything a close one could ever give us. We should love Him so much more than we do.

Make it a point today, every day, to love your Lord, who loves you more than His own son’s life to have us close to Him. forever.

“You shall love the LORD your God with  all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might. Deut 6:5

“Now, Israel, what does the LORD your God require from you, but to fear the LORD your God, to walk in all His ways and love Him, and to serve the LORD your God with all  your heart and with all your soul, {and} to keep the LORD’S commandments and His statutes which I am commanding you today for your good? Deut 10:12-13

“So take diligent heed to yourselves to love the LORD your God. Joshua 23:11

  1. Excellent post Kristina!

Rayburn keeps coming back to another verse that you might add. Jesus takes it a step further in His gospels.

Matt. 22:36-40 “Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?” Jesus replied: ” ‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’ All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments.”

When have we loved our neighbors, or even our family as much as we love ourselves? I know I fall pitifully short on this. Not only can’t I love God as I should I can’t even love those present around me as I should.
